The copyright material consists of Dag’s written work, mainly his poetry Vägmärken, and other written books and documents, as well as his personal photographs.
Dag himself was a very active photographer. He once said “The camera taught me how to see”.
Many of his photos and other documents are filed at the National library in Stockholm, Sweden.
In the spring of 2018 the library collection was established World Memory by UNESCO and the large collection has therefore been digitalized for future generations. The Dag Hammarskjöld archives at the National Library consist of a 45 meter long isle worth of documents, photos, and articles.
Other material such as personal notes, family letters, other correspondence and photos from Dag Hammarskjöld’s life are kept in the family archives.
Many authors, artists and composers have been given a written consent to access this material for specific purposes and for new publications.
